A Fixer-Upper

2023 update - Luther and Catrina are absolutely a thing.  I don't make the rules.

from concept...
...to reality.

Say hello to Luther :’D

He actually had a little more work done than what I’d initially thought would be, but he’s turned out much closer to his concept sketch as well because of it, so I’m happy for now.

boo.

The top hat is entirely from scratch.  His jacket is a scaled-up and somewhat edited version of the sport jacket from Fashion Doll Stylist.  It’s been trimmed with satin ribbon and augmented with working ‘buttons’ made from paper brads.  The cravat and hatband are bits of some awesome double-sided ribbon I’ve been looking for an excuse to use for years.  His head had the most alteration – lower jaw removed and expression sculpted in with Model Magic (overlaid with papier-mache), and then the same sort of ‘eyes’ Catrina-Anne has added in.

well hello there :D

As dapper as this guy is, he’s near impossible to pose since his joints are mostly hinge-only and kind of floppy.  For next Halloween I think I may take the Dremel to his hands and feet and wire his fingers and toes to bend a little.

exceedingly humble beginnings.

All in all, not a bad outcome for a $5 plastic skeleton from the drugstore.
